Today at school we had a black out day to support the All Blacks. The teachers and children got to dress in black. We went out onto the field after morning tea and spelt out 'GO NZ' and took a photo of it to send the the All Blacks. We hope they like it! Our class was in the middle of the letter N.

Argyll Reserve Walk
This morning the Mauao syndicate went for a walk through the Argyll Reserve near school. It was a great way to start our morning and we had lovely weather for it. We went down there to have a look at the spring flowers and see how the environment changes in different seasons. We saw some Tui birds and some Monarch butterflies. We also go to see lots of different types of flowers.

The Blues - Making Lunch
Yesterday in class the 'Blues' reading group read a book - Making Lunch. In the book some kids made their lunch at school. They made wraps. We thought that it would be fun to make our lunch at school like in the book. Miss Lind bought in the ingredients and the 'Blues' reading group made their lunch. We had carrot, lettuce, tomato and chesse in our wraps. We made them just before lunch and then got to eat them at lunchtime. They were Yummy!
Miss Lind had to grate the carrot and cheese so that we didnt hurt our fingers.
Jack and Cody had heaps of fun Making their wraps.
Sam and Brianna are putting all the yummy foods into their wraps.
It was hard wrapping them up so that everything didnt fall out when we ate it.
It was so yummy eating our wraps.

Maths - Measurement
Today in class we were talking about capacity. We had a really cool activity to do with capacity. Firstly we had to estimate how many cups of sand it would take to fill an ice cream container, our lunch box, the maths box and the library book container. After we had written down our estimates we went into the Jolly Roger Sandpit and measured them out. We found out that it took alot more cups of sand to fill the items than we had thought. Here are some pictures of our measuring.

Clean Up Tauranga
Today the whole school went walking around the streets of Greerton near School picking up rubbish to help "Keep Tauranga Clean". The children enjoyed helping clean our community. There was alot of rubbish picked up by the whole school. We had to be careful when we were crossing the roads and had to let Miss Lind and the adults know when we saw some rubbish on the road so that they could check to see if it was safe for us to pick it up. If it wasnt safe the adults would pick it up. The biggest thing we found to pick up was a pizza box and also a can of cat food. We are all going to make an extra effort to make sure we are not dropping our rubbish so that we are able to keep Tauranga and New Zealand Clean and we would like it if you could all try and keep your town and country clean too!
