Merry Christmas
The school year has now come to an end. It was very sad to say goodbye to all the children in my class this year, but I look forward to seeing them next year when they come and tell me all about their holiday adventures. Thank you to all the parents that have helped out in Room 17 this year. I hope you all have a merry christmas and a wonderful break. Take care. Miss Lind.

Junior Prizegiving
On Friday we had our Mauao and Tongariro Syndicates Prizegiving. Each class had 5 awards to give out for Outstanding Progress, Outstanding Citizen, Outstanding Sports Person, Outstanding Effort in all areas and Outstanding Arts. It was hard for Miss Lind to choose people for each award because all of Room 17 have tried hard all year!!! Well done to James, Julia, Logan, Aaliyah and Sean who all recieved an award. Well done also to the Kapa Haka who performed for us. It was great.

Constable Todd
Today at school our class had a visit from Constable Todd at the Greerton Police Station. He came in to show us his equipment and car. He turned the siren and lights on for us too. The siren was really loud so some of us had to block our ears! Then Miss Lind and Mrs McEvoy got handcuffed together! It was heaps of fun trying on all of Constable Todd's jackets. Thank you for coming in Constable Todd!

Bird art and stories
We have been making some cool bird pictures. We had to paint a piece of paper with different colours and then when it was dry we had to rip it up. Then we had to glue the ripped pieces of paper onto our picture of a bird. It looks really cool. We had also been writing about birds for the week about if we were birds. We got to publish our stories when we were finished and they are being displayed with our pictures. We think they look cool!

Athletics Day
Today we had our Junior Athletics day. It was such a fun day with all of the junior children being put into different teams to go around the different events. We had sprints, high jump, long jump, discus, shot put, javelin and hurdles. All of the teams were made up of children from each class and we got points for our achievement, effort and behaviour at each event. We will find out on Monday at assembly what teams won our Athletics day. We wonder who it was?!?!

Our Photo Stories
Miss Lind went to a conference in the school holidays and found out about a programme called 'Photo Story'. We have been working on making our own photo stories. We had to choose 5 photos of different teachers from our school and and use the different tools to change the look of the pictures, have transitions between the photos and add music. We loved adding our voices to too! This is one photo story made by Sean and Kerralin in our class.

Making Hamburgers
Today at school we made our own production line and made hamburgers. We did this as part of our Production and Process Technology topic. It was heaps of fun. We got to choose what we wanted to put in our hamburgers. There was lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickle, tomato sauce and mayo. Then we got to go outside on the field and eat our own hamburgers. We tried to make our hamburgers how we had seen the people at Subway making their sandwhiches.

Our Trip To Subway
Today we walked down to Subway in Greerton. We went to see how the Subway sandwhiches are made as this term we are looking at the production and process area in Technology. When we were there we got to have a look out the back of the store and see all the food before it goes out the front. It was really interesting seeing how everything looks over the other side of the counter. Once we had all looked out the back we got to go out the front and watch our Subway sandwhiches being made. Then we got to take our sandwhiches out to the Greerton Square to eat them in the sunshine. It was great fun, and now we know what our production line is going to look like when we make our own hamburgers in class on Thursday. Keep an eye out for photos!
We got to have a look in the freezer. It was -16 degrees!
We saw how the bread get their toppings on them.
This is where the breads get cooked.
The man was really quick at making our Subway sandwhiches.
It was nice eating our Subway in the park.

Art Suite
Today we had our first art suite session for the term. We spent the whole morning in the art suite making our paper mache masks.
We each had a mould that we were going to use to make our masks. We had to choose a warm or a cold colour to do first, then we had to put newsprint onto it once we had done a layer of colour paper mache. We got glue all over our hands, but it was heaps of fun. Mrs Gilpin was helping us to check that all of the pieces of paper were glued down properly. We cant wait to go back to the art suite on Thursday to finish our art! Look out for pictures of our finished master pieces soon :-)

Music and Drama Suite
We are now back at school and ready for Term 4. We are lucky enough to be rostered into the Music and Drama suite also. We love going up there as we get to sing songs, play the instruments and do some drama. Today we were miming to the music that was being played. We were pretending that we were playing the instruments that we could hear in the music. It was great fun. We also got to go on the keyboards which we love!!

Argyll Reserve Walk
This morning the Mauao syndicate went for a walk through the Argyll Reserve near school. It was a great way to start our morning and we had lovely weather for it. We went down there to have a look at the spring flowers and see how the environment changes in different seasons. We saw some Tui birds and some Monarch butterflies. We also go to see lots of different types of flowers.

The Blues - Making Lunch
Yesterday in class the 'Blues' reading group read a book - Making Lunch. In the book some kids made their lunch at school. They made wraps. We thought that it would be fun to make our lunch at school like in the book. Miss Lind bought in the ingredients and the 'Blues' reading group made their lunch. We had carrot, lettuce, tomato and chesse in our wraps. We made them just before lunch and then got to eat them at lunchtime. They were Yummy!
Miss Lind had to grate the carrot and cheese so that we didnt hurt our fingers.
Jack and Cody had heaps of fun Making their wraps.
Sam and Brianna are putting all the yummy foods into their wraps.
It was hard wrapping them up so that everything didnt fall out when we ate it.
It was so yummy eating our wraps.
